This year’s “Amateur Sports Week” events will take place from October 4–10, 2021.
The week kicked off with a lively ceremony held at the Kayseri Amateur Sports Clubs Federation Open Field. The ceremony was attended by Ali İhsan Kabakcı, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports; Özben Şimşek, our Central Anatolia Regional President; Mutlu Önal, President of the Kayseri Amateur Sports Clubs Federation; branch directors; members of the Kayseri Amateur Sports Clubs Federation Board of Directors; coaches; and athletes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Ali İhsan Kabakcı stated, “As the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we are making significant strides in fostering a love of sports by expanding sports facilities through the projects we have implemented to promote the development of sports and the construction of sports facilities. We are working with all our might to ensure that our younger generations have access to much better opportunities in the future and possess the skills and experience necessary to compete with young people from around the world in sports; we are mobilizing all our resources and capabilities for the future of our youth. We, too, are continuing our efforts with all our might to foster unity, solidarity, and cooperation in sports and to promote athletic activity in our city of Kayseri. “Our greatest goal and top priority is both protecting public health for everyone from age 3 to 93 and raising our youth—the guarantee of our future—to become healthy and successful individuals. We strive to instill a love of sports in our children and youth from a young age,” he said.
Following the speeches, the ceremony continued with demonstrations by athletes in wrestling, taekwondo, karate, fencing, and archery. After the demonstrations, members of the official delegation and the athletes competed in a tug-of-war contest.
